This is an advance notice of an upcoming requirement for the acquisition of Shallow Water Multibeam and Side Scan Sonar Sounding Data. The National Ocean Service seeks to acquire data for the anchorage areas and safety fairways between Cameron and Sabine Pass (approximately 200 sq nmi) in the Gulf of Mexico and for the coastal waters of the ports San Luis, Gaviota, and Ellwood, California (approximately 20 sq nmi) using multibeam, singlebeam, and side scan sonar equipment. The Gov't intends to award up to 2 contracts (1 for each area). This project includes (1) the acquisition of shallow water multibeam sounding data (100% bottom coverage), side scan sonar data (200% bottom coverage), and related supporting data; 2) the processing of the data including compiling reports and final smoothsheets; and 3) the delivery of the data, reports, and sheets to the Govt for archival and application to the nautical charts and associated nautical products. Additional site investigations beyond the basic coverage may be obtained by task order to determine least depth. Release of the RFP is scheduled by early Feb 1996 with priced proposals due approx 45 days thereafter. Contract award is scheduled for late summer 1996. No response to this announcement is necessary.
