The National Institutes of Health requires a contractor to provide Mail Services. The requirements of this contract can be separated into two general functions: Processing and delivery of incoming and out going mail. Approximately 18,000,000 pieces of incoming and ouutgoing USPS Mail are procesed at the facility each year. The mail consists of the following categories: Incoming mail to include 7,250,000 letters; 4,000,000 flats and parcels; 150,000 accountable mail and outgoing mail which includes: 6,700,000 letters; 1,250,000 flats; 50,000 accountable mail; 250,000 International Mail; and 50,000 packages/boxes. The period of performance includes a 12 month base period with four (4) 12 month option periods. (0340)
