procuring a Furnace Charging System to service the Iron Induction
Melting System in the new CERP Pilot Metal Casting Facility. The
Furnace Charging System shall include two (2) weigh charging feeders on
motorized indexing cars that will be used to charge scrap metal and
other charge materials into the induction melting furnaces. The two (2)
vibratory weigh furnace charging feeders shall be 36'' wide with flared
sides to 48'' wide x 24'' high x 10' - 6'' long. Each feeder shall be
designed to receive, weigh up and transfer four (4) 1500 lb. charges
per hour of varying scrap ingredients weighing approx. 75 lbs./ cu. ft.
Feeders to include load cell weigh system with large (6'' high numbers)
scoreboard type remote digital readout and all necessary controls. The
discharge end shall include replaceable stainless steel tubular nose
piece for directing smoke and fumes to a overhead government supplied
collection hood. The feeders shall ride on two (2) vibratory weigh
furnace charging feeder indexing cars. The car travel shall be approx.
11'-0'' from the scrap load position to the furnace charge position.
(The equipment shall comply with 29 Code of Federal Regulations 1910
(OSHA). All electrical devices shall comply with NFPA-70 - 1993,
National Electric Code and NFPA 79 - 1994 requirements, Electrical
Standard for The approximate issue/response date will be 15 DEC 95. The
anticipated award date will be 28 FEB 96. Written procedure will be
used for this solicitation. No telephone requests. Only written or

responsible sources solicited may submit a bid, proposal, or quotation
which shall be considered. It is suggested that small business firms
or others interested in subcontracting opportunities in connection with
the described procurement make contact with the firm(s) listed. An
Ombudsman has been appointed to hear concerns from offerors or
potential offerors during the proposal development phase of this
acquisition. The purpose of the Ombudsman is not to diminish the
authority of the program director r contracting officer, but to
communicate contractor concerns, issues, disagreements, and
recommendations to the appropriate Government personnel. When
requested, the Ombudsman will maintain strict confidentiality as to the
source of the concern. The Ombudsman does not participate in the
evaluation of proposals or in the source selection process. Interested
