S -- S-SALES OF RECYCLABLE MATERIALS POC Contact,Shelley Shires,202/708-8709,Contracting Officer,Sandra Jones,202/70 8-8709 The General Services Administration (GSA), National Capital Region (NCR), is seeking qualified companies who are capable of providing for the collection and sale of the following recyclable items: recyclable paper materials (various grades, including telephone directories), used aluminum beverage cans, used glass beverage containers, used plastic beverage bottles (only those bottles made of polyethylene terphthalate {PET} and high density polyethylene {HDPE}, and polystyrene collected at approximately 120 US Government Office Buildings through out the National Capital Region (Washington DC; Northern Virginia - cities of Alexandria and Falls Church, and Arlington, Fairfax, Loudoun, and Prince William counties; Suburban Maryland - Montgomery County and Prince George's counties). The GSA shall determine each location from which the Contractor is to remove accumulations of paper (various grades, including telephone directories), used aluminum beverage cans (UBC), used glass beverage containers (UGC), used plastic beverage bottles (UPB), and polystyrene. UPBs may consist of only PET, known as #1 plastic and HDPE, known as #2 plastic. The Contractor must be capable of providing the necessary containers for use in sufficient quantities for the collection and storage of all recyclables. For paper: wheeled hampers/carts approximately one (1) cubic yard capacity; with a mechanized system, two-wheeled carts one-half (1/2) to two (2) cubic yard capacity; wheeled carts may be composed of rubber, polyethylene, metal or canvas with non-scuffing wheels; other types of containers may be required at various locations; outdoor containers include closed-top, open-top, segmented and compactors. For plastics, glass and aluminum: UBC, three (3) colors of USG, #1 & #2 UPB, and polystyrene accumulations prior to removal; the three colors of glass are white (flint), brown (amber) and green (emerald); containers may consist of washable, leakproof carts of one-half (1/2) to two (2) cubic yards in volume made of rubber, plastic, or fiberglass with tight-fitting lids and durable non-scuffing wheels. The Contractor shall be responsible for the delivery, mainteance, and removal of storage containers and equipment. The Contractor shall comply with all Federal, State, county, and local laws and regulations pertaining to the transport, processing and sale of recyclables, and must also obtain required permits for each jurisdiction. The Contractor shall pay the Government for materials removed based on a percentage of a recognized published price for each type of material removed as determined under the issued solicitation. Estimated weights of all recyclables would be included in any subsequent solicitations, and based on the best available Government information at the time of issuance. Responsible firms having the capability of meeting these GSA requirements are requested to give written notification; include a statement of capability; and provide a name and telephone number of a designated point of contact to GSA at the above address, Room 2634, within 30 days after the publication of this notice.
