COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF DECEMBER 28,1995 PSA#1499

Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, 7000 East Avenue, Livermore, CA 94550

A -- LLNL SEEKS A U.S. LICENSEE TO COMMERCIALIZE AND MARKET NON-HAZARDOUS EXPLOSIVES FOR SECURITY TRAINING AND TESTING (NESTT) POC For further information, contact Industrial Partnerships & Commercialization, at (510) 423-3139. Announcement Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL), operated by the University of California (UC), under contract with the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), is seeking a U.S. licensee to commercialize and market a suite of materials that have authentic explosive signatures yet are non hazardous. The usefulness of these materials has been demonstrated in both canine and instrument explosive detection tests. LLNL (UC) is looking for an industrial partner to license, manufacture and market these materials internationally. These materials contain less than 10 wt% explosive mixed with a variety of organic and inorganic inerts. Some formulations contain plastics and plasticizers. Candidates should have facilities for and experience in the large scale mixing and packaging of energetic materials. Analytical and safety testing capabilities are also required to verify the properties and assure the quality of the manufactured NESTT materials. NOTE: The TNT NESTT and C-4 NESTT formulations are specifically excluded from the suite of NESTT materials available for licensing. Moving critical technology beyond the Laboratory to the commercial world helps our U.S. licensees gain a competitive edge in the market place. The University of California's Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory can license technology through exclusive or nonexclusive licensing agreements, as appropriate. Interested parties should respond to this announcement by providing a short (two page maximum) description of company history, experience in the field, present position in the market, and ability to commercialize the results of this joint effort. This announcement will be valid for 45 days from the date of publication. (356)
