Defense Supply Service-Washington, on behalf of the Office Under
Secretary for Defense (Policy), OUSD(P), intends to acquire, under IFB,
DASW01-96-B-0005, workgroup application production and development
network servers to support Lotus Notes groupware implementation for the
policy network (Polynet). Two separate configurations have been
developed for these servers in accordance with their planned physical
locations and functions. 1) Workgroup Application Servers, quan 3 with
the following specifications: a) four (4) 100MHz (or higher) pentium
processors located on processor board on a SMP environment w/512KB of
L2 cache minimum; b) minimum of 64MB of memory w/expansion ability of
at least 256MB; c) at least seven (7) bus-mastering EISA internal
expansion slots; d) three (3) bays for addition of external accessible
devices; e) one (1) fast/wide SCSI-2 controller w/minimum of 8MB of
cache to control minimum of two (2) 4GB hard drives; f) hard drives
configured in RAID environment; g) capability of fiber-optic FDDI
network connection; h) 14/15 inch color monitor connected to a
1024x768, 16 color non-interlaced video graphics port, 101 key enhanced
keybd and standard two-button mouse attached to system; i) capable of
SMP processing, necessary software added to allow configuration and
management to be SNMP v.2 compliant; j) IMB OS/2 warp 3.0 (or latest
release); k) required power and data cables to connect components
together; l) users guides and technical reference manuals for hardware
and installed software; m) 450 watt power supply that runs on 110/120
volt, 60/50 cycle power w/sufficient cooling for office environment
operating; n) quality assurance, hardware and software products
delivered w/user and technical documentation. 2) Workgroup Development
Servers, quan 2 with the following specifications: a) single processor
speed at least 100MHz located on a processor board w/room for
additional processor boards in a SMP environment and a minimum of 256KB
of L2 cache; b) minimum of 48MB of memory w/ability to expand to at
least 192MB; c) 4 bus-mastering EISA expansion slots, 2 PCI
bus-mastering slots and 1 shared EISA/PCI bus-mastering slot; d)
minimum of three (3) internal expansion bays for addition of externally
accessible devices; e) one (1) PCI-based Fast-Wide SCSI-2 controller to
control a minimum of two (2) 4GB external removable hard drives, one
(1) 4MM DAT tape drive, and one (1) dual-speed CD-ROM drive; f) server
will be connected to an Ethernet network via a NIC w/RJ-45
(10BaseT/UTP) connection; g) 14/15 inch color monitor connected to a
1024x768, 16 color non-interlaced video graphics port, a 101 key
enhanced keybd w/a standard two button mouse attached, one (1)
bi-directional parallel and two (2) high speed serial ports controlled
by 16550 (or higher) UART chip; h) Windows NT Server 3.51 (or latest
release), all necessary software added to allow configuration and
management of network and be SNMP v.2 compliant; i) UPS w/minimum
rating of 1000 VA and minimum of 6 outlets to supply power to all
components, UPS w/user controlled software to gracefully shutdown
server when main power is lost; j) all required power and data cables
to connect all components; k) user guides and technical reference
manuals for hardware and installed software; 1) at least 325 watt power
supply that runs 110/120 volt, 60/50 cycle power w/sufficient cooling
for office environment; m) quality assurance, hardware/software
products delivered w/user and technical documentation. This requirement
is a 100% Small Business Set-Aside. IFB, DASW01-96-B-0005 will be
