It is expected that long terms storage would be required, up to 20 years with possible extensions up to 40 years. Interested parties shall demonstrate ability to receive, handle, store the nuclear fuel in compliance with applicable Nuclear Regulatory Commission and/or Department of Energy requirements. Pacific Northwest National Laboratories require that the fuel be in storage by September 30, 1996. This synopsis is not a request for proposal. Requests for copies of the solicitation will be honored if received within 10 days after issuance of this synopsis. No telephone requests for the solicitation package will be accepted.
