The Naval Air Warfare Center Weapons Division, China Lake, CA intends to procure on an other than full and open competition basis with Schlumberger Geoquest, 5599 San Felipe, Ste. 1700, Houston, TX 77056-2722, a fully integrated geological and geophysical interpretation software package utilizing Geoquest Software products. The interpretation package must be capable of running on either a Sun Sparc 2 or Sun Sparc 20 Unix-based work station. The operating system will be the Sun OS version 4.1.4. The contractor must provide training on use of the software for four persons. The contractor must also provide annual updates on the software and technical assistance for one year. This procurement is being pursued on a sole source basis because Schlumberger Geoquest is the only firm whose software provides (1) geophysical data processing capability with interpretation and modeling capability; (2) direct links to software from other companies specializing in geological and geophysical data manipulation for mineral exploration and production management; (3) a translator allowing immediate formatting and transferability of interpretative results to ARC/INFO GIS data bases; (4) direct import of FMS/FMI geophysical logs into and out of the interpretation software while maintaining full functionality and portability of the data; and (5) full integration of multiple vintages of both 2D and 3D reflection seismic data with the capability to mix data types one with the other.
