59 -- ANTENNA POSITIONER/TRACKER USING GPS (GLOBAL POSITIONING SYSTEM) POC Mr. Paul D'Ulisse, (908) 532-6188. Antenna Positioner/Tracker Using GPS. The Army is conducting a market survey for an electromechanical control system to establish and maintain the pointing angles of a two foot dish satellite antenna mounted on a moving HMMWV vehicle. The system offered must incorporate Global Position System, in place of gyro stabilization, for use in the initial pointing and subsequent tracking of the satellite from a moving evhicle. The system should be off-the-shelf or in the latest stages of development with only minor modification required for this purpose. The antenna is expected to weigh between five and ten pounds. The system proposed will maintain a communication link in the X-band(8 Ghz) with a satellite in geostationary orbit. The Positioner/Stabilizer will be expected to automatically point to the satelite and to maintain the pointing angles in azimuth and elevation within a five degree beamwidth (ie, plus or minus two and one-half degrees in any direction). Vehicle parameters, such as translational and angular accleration, maximum roll and pitch angles and rates, are not being specified. However, the Army is interested in acquiring information from responders on these and other pertinent parameters of their system. Expected test scenarios are 40 mph on improved roads and 10 mph off road. This is not a RFP. Responses must be in writing and can include company brochures, white papers, design plans and test results. Responses should be received not later than twenty one (21) calendar days after publication. Extensions will be granted. Direct responses to Commander, CECOM and Fort Monmouth, Research, Development and Engineering Center, Space & Communications Dir., ATTN: AMSEL-RD-ST-SY-TE, Mr. Paul D'Ulisse, Ft. Monmouth, NJ 07703.
