Solicitation GS-09P-96- KTC-0023 Due 3/19/96. Estimated cost of
construction is over $20,000,000. The General Services Administration
has a requirement for a qualified contractor to provide all labor,
equipment, materials, supplies, services, supervision, technical
expertise, and incidentals for repair and alterations of the existing
two story, 328,300 square foot US Federal Building located at 2800
Cottage Way, Sacramento, CA. The period of performance is approximately
two years, 7-96 thru 7-98. Work involves: Complete demolition of the
interiors of both wings of the complex up to the service cores
excluding main mechanical ducting - while simultaneously providing
hazardous material abatement; Remove portions of a concrete slab on
grade and excavate for new footings, anchoring steel seismic bracing
network which is attached to existing concrete floor wall and roof
slabs; Repair floors; Provide partitions with floor wall and ceiling
finishes as described; Included are heating, ventilating, air
conditioning, power, lighting, and communications/data wiring; Provide
sprinklers throughout; Coordinate and relocate furniture work stations
from the west wing to the east wing. Exterior work includes: altering
designated exit paths for access compliance, adding enclosure for
electrical panels, repair or resurfacing of asphalt and landscape
disturbed as a result of performing the work. This project is divided
into two phases. The Government is occupying the site, therefore, close
coordination of switch-over services is required in order to provide
continuous services to the remaining temants. This procurement will be
open to both large and small businesses. In the event award is made to
a large business concern, a small business subcontracting plan will be
required in accordance with Public Law 95.507. The contractor should
have expertise and the capability to provide seismic upgrade, hazardous
material abatement, and building renovation. The contractor will be
required to perform at least twenty per cent of the work and and should
be a firm experienced in projects of similar size and complexity. A 20%
Bid Bond is required. Performance and Payment Bonds will be required
prior to receipt of Notice to Proceed. This solitation package will be
available approximately in mid March 1996. A limited number of
solicitation packages will be available and will be issued on a
first-come, first-serve basis. The date and time of the Pre-Bid/Site
Visit will be specified in the solicitation. Firms having the
qualifications to meet these requirements are invited to submit a
