A -- SOURCES ARE BEING SOUGHT FOR LIGHT WEIGHT STRUCTURES FOR VARIOUS SPACECRAFT DEVELOPMENT FLIGHT PROGRAMS POC Code 8210, Nick Davinic. Sources are being sought by the Naval Research Laboratory (NRL) to provide low cost, light weight structures for various spacecraft development flight programs. NRL is interested in companies with capabilities in the following areas: high strength/high stiffness materials, control-structures interactions (smart structures), gossamer structures, multi-functional structures, rapid prototyping and innovative manufacturing methods, advanced quality control/assurance and testing. Specific interests include graphite/polymer matrix composites, metal matrix composites, advanced metallic alloys, passive or active damping and vibration suppression systems, inflatable booms and parabolic dishes, structures with embedded thermal management (heat pipes) or electronics (wiring harnesses) hardware, advanced inspection techniques (ultrasound, tomography, X-ray). Respondees are encouraged to include new ''cutting edge'' applications in the structural design and development of space vehicles and their components. In addition, a summary of qualifications and previous development experience should be included. Responses shall include two copies of the requested information, are due no later than 45 days after the issue date of this synopsis, and should be no longer than 15 pages per copy.
