SOLE SOURCE - The U.S. Marine Corps intends to award a sole source contract to Watkins-Johnson, of Savage, Maryland, for operations and maintenance support, including related repair parts, for twelve (12) fielded AN/MLQ-36 Mobile Electronic Warfare Support Systems (MEWSS). The effort will include such tasks as system calibration, training, provision of repair parts, and on-sight and depot maintenance support of the Manpack Tactical Intelligence System (MANTIS), a principle component of the MEWSS. Watkins-Johnson is the sole developer and manufacturer of the MANTIS, and possesses the proprietary data and drawings necessary for the performance of the effort described herein. The period covered by this support will be 01 October 1996 through 30 September 1997, with an option for the period 01 October 1997 through 30 September 1998. No other source is believed to be capable of meeting the Marine Corps' needs in this area. No solicitation document exists.
