Hwy, Arlington, Va 22243-5120 16 -- PROCUREMENT OF P-3 SENSOR INTEGRATION AND DATA FUSION EFFORTS
POC Contact, Patrice M. Jones, Phone (703)604-2000 The Anti-Surface
Warfare Improvement Program (AIP) is a FY 1994 new start program
utilizing Commercial Off-The Shelf/Non-Development Item (COTS/NDI) to
significantly and rapidly increase operational capabilities in the
areas ASUW, OTH-H, C3I and Survivability that includes installation of
a number of stand alone systems. In addition, the P-3 has recently
upgraded its central processor and is in the final stages of
installation into fleet P-3 aircraft. This effort includes tasks to
perform on line sensor integration, reduce/redistribute operator
workload, modernize the Operator-Machine Interface (OMI) to take
advantage of new displays and controls, provide additional sensor
integration/enhancements, improve/automate tactical planning aids, and
provide for multi-sensor data correlation/fusion. The Naval Air
Systems Command intends to negotiate an IDIQ contract with Loral
Defense Systems-Eagan, 3331 Pilot Knob Road, Eagan, Minnesota for this
effort. Loral Defense Systems-Eagan is the prime contractor/developer
for both AIP and Central Processor modification efforts. As the sole
developer and manufacturer of AIP and CP-2044 kits, Loral Defense
Systems-Eagan is the only known firm with the highly specialized
expertise and adequate technical data needed to conduct the effort
described above. See note No. 22 - NAVAIR Synopsis No. 30005-96.
