A -- NATIONAL MISSILE DEFENSE BATTLE MANAGEMENT, COMMAND, CONTROL, COMMUNICATIONS (BMC3)/SYSTEMS ENGINEERING AND INTEGRATION (SE&I) PROGRAM ENHANCEMENT POC POC: Marc Lesser, (703) 413-0388, CBD Reference Number: BMDO 96-15. The Ballistic Missile Defense Organization (BMDO), intends to enter into a sole source contract modification with TRW Inc., Strategic Systems Division, P.O. Box 1310, San Bernadino, CA 92402-1310. This contractual action, which will modify the existing BMC3/SE&I contract, HQ0006-95-C-0018, will shift the emphasis of the National Missile Defense (NMD) SE&I effort and the NMD BMC3 effort to more closely conform to the NMD Deployment Readiness Program announced by the Secretary of Defense. For NMD SE&I, the contract will be modified to: intensify the system level requirements and design reviews, accelerate the system engineering process in concert with other NMD Element schedules, intensify systems engineering support for Element engineering, accelerate the development of integrated test and evaluation requirements, and to focus more on system test deployment readiness requirements and assessment. For BMC3, the contract will be modified to: accelerate the incorporation of the United States Army Command, Control, Communications, Computer and Intelligence Technical Architecture, fully utilize the BMC3 prototype in integrated flight test, to develop more robust communications network requirements, to develop the prototype in-flight interceptor communication system, and to focus on BMC3 integration with external systems.
