B -- EVALUATION OF USE AND EFFICACY OF INFECTION CONTROL MEASURES FOR PREVENTION OF NOSOCOMIAL TRANSMISSION OF MULTI-DRUG RESISTANT TUBERCULOSIS TO PATIENTS AND HEALTH CARE WORKERS SOL 200-96-0523(P) DUE 062896 POC Contact Allyson R. Shoe at (404) 842-6636 The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention contemplates awarding a contract to evaluate the efficacy of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention infection control guidelines in reducing or preventing nosocomial transmission of tuberculosis in hospitals. Because several outbreaks of multi-drug resistant tuberculosis involving patients and health care workers have occurred, and because of the morbidity and mortality associated with drug-resistant TB strains, this project will be performed only at those hospitals that had CDC-documented outbreaks of multi-drug resistant tuberculosis. To be eligible, offerors must (1) have had a CDC-investigated outbreak of MDR-TB and (2) have undergone follow-up study since the outbreak, and (3) must have treated at least 100 TB patients at their institution during 1995. The scheduled issue date is approximately May 22, 1996. NO TELEPHONE REQUESTS WILL BE ACCEPTED; only written requests for this solicitation will be honored. Written requests should cite RFP No. 200-96-0523(P). All responsible sources that meet the above requirements may submit a proposal which shall be considered by the Agency. (0100)
