COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF APRIL 23,1996 PSA#1579Army Research Laboratory, AMSRL-OP-WS-RP (Bldg 1624), White Sands
Missile Range, NM 99 -- DEFOCUS AND SPHERICAL ABERRATION ADAPTIVE COMPENSATION SYSTEM
SOL DAAL01-96-Q-P006 DUE 060696 POC Lucy M. Escudero, Contract
Specialist/(505) 678-0697. The Army Research Laboratory Small Purchases
Team-WSMR intends an acquisition for a ''Defocus and Spherical
Aberration Adaptive Compensation System'' as follows: An optical system
capable of generating and correcting defocus and spherical aberrations
in the visible wavelength region. REQUIREMENTS: 1) This optical system
shall have the ability to generate and correct the following
aberrations: defocus (+-100 meters), and spherical aberration
(amplitude greater than +-7 microns across the aperture). Each
aberration component shall be capable of operating either separately or
in unison with the other aberration component. The entire system
(mirrors, wavefront sensors, electronics, and software) shall be
capable of operating either as a unit system, or as two separate
defocus and spherical aberration subsystems. The defocus and spherical
aberration components shall each be constructed as individual
stand-alone systems with separate wavefront correctors, electronics,
and wavefront sensors. 2) Each of the two subsystems (defocus and
spherical aberration) shall include the following electronic
components: electronic amplifiers capable of being controlled either
manually or by PC computer; photodetector with electronics for
wavefront sensing operated using a PC computer; PC computer software
with user interface capable of providing the following: static
wavefront aberration generation with arbitrary amplitudes within the
specified performance ranges; static wavefront aberration measurements;
and adaptive correction of slowly varying (5-10 Hz) defocus and
spherical aberrations, with computer visualization of the adaptation
process. DELIVERABLES: 1) The contractor shall prepare a design for an
optical system as described above in 1 and 2 including detailed
schematics, specifications, and description of all primary component
elements to include mirrors, wavefront sensors, electronics, and
software. Upon Government Technical Representative determination, the
contractor shall incorporate any changes and/or modifications to this
design deemed necessary by the Government Technical Representative. The
contractor shall submit any design(s) modified or changed to the
Government Technical Representative for furhter review. 2) Subsequent
to acceptance of the optical system design by the Government Technical
Representative, the contractor shall manufacture all major components
to include adaptive mirrors, wavefront sensors, electronics, and
software. The contractor shall test and evaluate these components when
completed for performance and overall suitability. Test results to
include interferograms and measurements, photographs, and a description
of the test and evaluation procedures, shall be submitted as a report
to the Government Technical Representative for approval and
concurrence. 3) The completed optical system as described above in 1
and 2 shall be delivered to the Government Technical Representative by
express mail for acceptance testing. The contractor shall prepare and
deliver with the completed system a written manual that includes: a
full description of system operation; schematics of all major system
components; detailed schematics of electronic elements; and a software
User's Guide. THERE WILL BE NO FORMAL RFQ. The SIC Code is 3577 and
the Standard is 1000 employees. Price shall include all applicable
rates; Federal, State, and local taxes; shipping costs; and shall be
FOB White Sands Missile Range, NM. The Government will not pay for any
effort expended in responding to this synopsis. (0110) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0274 19960422\99-0001.SOL)
