A -- A FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAM FOR STATE AND MUNICIPAL GOVERNMENTS FOR THE DEMONSTRATION OF LIGHT AND HEAVY DUTY ALTERNATIVE FUEL VEHICLES SOL DE-PS07-96ID13432 DUE 062896 POC Wendy L. Hallum, Contracting Officer, 208-526-5545 The U.S. Department of Energy, Idaho Operations Office, (DOE-ID) is inviting applications for a national demonstration program in the use of light and heavy duty alternative fuel vehicles. This program restricts eligibility to the 50 states, the District of Columbia, the Virgin Islands, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, and any territories or possessions of the United States. Only one proposal will be accepted from each of the state offices which is responsible for administering the DOE, State Energy Conservation Program in each representative state; this definition also includes those entities performing a similar function for the District of Columbia or for any territory or possession of the United States. Interested state agencies, municipalities, local school districts, and other local agencies must contact their state office for applications for subawards, and must submit their proposals to their energy office to be considered. Three objectives DOE has identified to be achieved in this demonstration program are as follows: (1) The increased use of alternate fuel vehicles in state and municipal fleets; (2) The education and training of state, local, and supporting industry personnel on the proper and safe use of alternative fuel; and (3) The collection and dissemination of information and data on in-use operation of state/municipal vehicle fleets using Alternative Fuels. It is anticipated that review of proposed applications will begin on or about July 1, 1996. Selections will be made by August 1, 1996, and awards will be issued by September 30, 1996. Currently $975,000 is available for award and it is expected that additional funding of as much as $600,000 will be made available this fiscal year. It is anticipated that approximately eight to twelve awards will be made with funding levels not to exceed $150,000 for any individual award.
