Y -- PRESOLICITATION NOTICE FOR CONSTRUCTION OF THE NEW REGION III ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCE CENTER AT THE U.S. ARMY FORT GEORGE G. MEADE INSTALLATION FORT MEADE, MARYLAND SOL C600516T1 POC Contracting Officer, JAMES M. BZDUSEK, (513)366-2003 The project site is located on the north side of Mapes Road, adjacent to the Mapes Road entrance to the Fort George G. Meade Army Installation located in Maryland from Route 175. The Environmental Science Center is a new two story research facility with basement and penthouse space. The building has an approximate gross area of 140,000 square feet. Occupied areas consist of office, office support, laboratory and field operations functions. The exterior wall is a cavity wall system consisting of a brick facing with rigid insulation in the cavity and masonry (CMU) backup. The window system consists of insulated fixed units with thermal break and aluminum frame. Spandrel Glass/Curtain Wall System will be provided in selected wall elevation areas. The floor framing construction consists of composite steel beams and girders, and roof construction is metal deck on steel framing. Site work includes new asphalt roadways, parking, water, sanitary sewer, storm water management, and landscaping. Construction period will be 780 calendar days after receipt of notice to proceed. Estimated price is over $10,000,000.00. The solicitation will be available approximately June 20, 1996. There will be a charge for the bid documents. Instructions will be contained in the formal announcement which is estimated to be around May 20, 1996. (0117)
