Myron Horwath, (908)707-4300 The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) is
seeking qualified refiners of scrap x-ray film for the VA nationwide
program. Potential sources are required to provide local, regional, or
national capability to collect and refine scrap x-ray film from up to
172 VA Medical Centers. Collection will occur along logical trucking
routes as necessary, approximately twice a year at large facilities and
once a year at smaller facilities. Potential sources will be required
to transport the collected film to refinery, process the scrap x-ray
film using a non-burning process, recover the available silver and
clean plastic, comply with industry standard assay/yield certification
procedures, and credit, compensate or return the silver and plastic to
VA Nationwide, approximately 800,000 to 1,200,000 pounds of film will
be processed by one or more refiners annually. Potential sources should
