Officer, Sheila Smith, (315)477-4507 The Syracuse VA Medical has a
requirement for a digital imaging system to be inferfaced with an
existing General Electric Advantx LU/C Single Plane Cardiac
Catheterization system with cine and pulsed fluoroscopy. The system
must digitize and store the Cardiac Angiograms in a format that meets
the American College of Radiology/National Electrical Manufacturers
Association (ACR/NEMA) Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine
(DICOM 3.0) standard, as well as provide DICOM 3.0 standard networking
capability. The requirement includes (1) providing complete
installation to interface to Advantx hardware and software to permit
the operator to control X-ray, TV, and pulscan for purposes of
acquiring both digital and cine images and retain all existing
functionality; (2) compliance with all approved sections of the DICOM
3.0 Standard, the vendor's hardware must support TCP/IP (Transmission
Control Protocol/Internet Protocol) communications over an Institute of
Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) 802.3 interface; (3)
real-time 30 fps image acquisition with frame dimensions having a
minimum of 1024 x 512 x 8-bit from Advantx system for 90 seconds of
digital recording; (4) capability of existing 35mm cine film must be
retained; (5) long term mass storage must be capable of storing at
lease 2700 frames per removable media in one of the following forms,
listed in order of priority: Compact Disc - Recordable (CD-R),
Re-writable Optical, Write Once Read Many (WORM), or Streamer Tape.
This is the first phase of a telemedicine project to transport digital
images to a remote site over a high speed Wide Area Network (WAN)
using ATM (Asynchronous Transfer Mode). Images must be of diagnostic
quality; any compression algorithms used must be ''loss less''. All
interested parties capable of providing a system that meets this
criteria are invited to request a solicitation package. Requests must
