R -- SATELLITE NAVIGATION TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE CONTRACT (SATNAV TAC) POC Sandra Harrelson, Contracting Officer, 202-267-3669 The FAA plans to conduct a competitive procurement for the award of a contract to provide technical engineering services and program management support for current and future satellite and satellite augmentation systems for the Satellite Navigation (SATNAV) program office. These services will augment existing Government resources by providing expertise in existing satellite systems and satellite-based navigation systems, comprehensive knowledge of the global positioning system and a detailed understanding of the operational requirements of these systems. Services will be provided on a task order basis during a period of up to seven years, including options. Anticipated annual level of effort is approximately 200 man years. This procurement will be conducted in accordance with policy of the FAA Acquisition Management System, effective April 1, 1996, and therefore will not be subject to FAR procedures. The FAA will issue an initial screening information request (SIR) on or about May 24 to prequalify companies interested in participating in this procurement as prime offerors. Qualification factors will include evidence of relevant experience and capability to provide both near term (transition phase) and long term staffing levels and skills. Offerors who are determined to be qualified as potential prime contractors will progress to discussions of a draft solicitation and model contract.
