Agriculture, Food and Consumer Service (FCS) is sponsoring a
competition for grants to develop and validate the methodology and
intruments that the research community (government, academicians, and
other researchers) can use to assess food-related behavior changes
resulting from nutrition education interventions targeted to low-income
individuals and families. A total of $550,000 will be used to fund
three to 15 grants selected for award. No grant can exceed $200,000.
FCS expects most grants to fall between $50,000 and $100,000 unless a
proposal is particularly compelling. The grants are intended to assist
research that can be completed in eighteen months or less from the
date of award. Applications will be due on or about July 19, 1996. All
qualified organizations interested in receiving a copy of the Request
for Application when it is issued MUST submit their request in writing
and MUST include four (4) self-addressed mailing labels. TELEPHONIC AND
