Contracting Officer The Navy requires disposal of between 8,000 and
40,000 pounds of lithium batteries withthionyl chloride as the battery
electrolytes. These batteries/cells range in size from tiny buttonsize
cells to big desk size batteries. The batteries are made up of various
chemistries including,but not limited to: lithium/sulfur dioxide,
lithium/chloral sulfuryl chloride, lithium/thionyl
chloride,lithium/manganese dioxide, and lithium/carbon monofluoride.
Once tested and used thesebatteries are considered as reactive waste.
They must be disposed of according to all theapplicable local, state,
and federal environmental laws pertaining to such waste. The
contractormust have the capability to dispose of 200 lb. reserve
batteries. The contractor must possesswritten permits granting aries.
It is anticipated that an Indefinite-Delivery, Indefiniteidered by this
