The work to be performed under this acquisition includes (a) demolishing and removing existing buried, abandoned concrete wasteway structure; (b) saw cutting and/or replacing portions of concrete canal lining to incorporate an emergency wasteway inlet structure into the sideslope of an existing canal section; (c) earthway for and constructing a reinforced concrete, side channel spillway-type inlet structure, 134-foot-long by 3-foot-wide with depth varying from about 12 to 15 feet; (d) earthwork for and constructing a wasteway discharge pipeline, comprised of approximately 60 linear feet of 60-inch-diameter reinforced concrete pressure pipe (RCP) and 170 linear feet of 54-inch-diameter RCP; (ea) earthwork for and constructing baffled outlet energy dissipator at end of discharge pipeline; (f) excavating approximately 50 linear feet of channel at outlet of energy dissipator; (g) furnishing and placing riprap over sand and gravel bedding for erosion protection in portion of channel at outlet of energy dissipator; (h) furnishing and installing chain link fence and handrail at wasteway inlet structure; and (i) furnishing and installing one 48- by 48-inch cast iron slide gate. The estimated price range of the work is $100,001 to $250,000. The work is situated approximately 5 miles southeast of Burwell, Nebraska, in Valley County. Solicitation packages are anticipated to be available June 28, 1996. Requests for solicitations should be received on or before July 16, 1996. The bid opening is tentatively scheduled for July 30, 1996, at the office of the Bureau of Reclamation, Nebraska-Kansas Area Office, 203 West Second Street, Grand Island, Nebraska. The contract is to be completed by April 14, 1997. There is no charge for the first copy of the solicitation, additional sets will be provided upon receipt of a nonrefundable check or money order of $9.00 each. After issuance, the solicitation may be viewed, without charge, at the following offices of the Bureau of Reclamation: Great Plains Regional Office, Federal Building, Room 2031, 316 North 26th Street, Billings, Montana or Nebraska-Kansas Area Office. All responsible sources may submit a bid which shall be considered by the Bureau of Reclamation.
