On or about 25 June 1996, this office will issue Invitation for Bids for the construction of PERRY CREEK DEMOLITION PHASE 1, SIOUX CITY, IA. Bids will be opened on or about 25 July 1996. This solicitation is unrestricted and open to both large and small business participation. Contractors interested in inspecting the site of the proposed work should contact Larry Fisher, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Room 312, 320 6th Street, Sioux City, IA 51101 Phone (712) 277-8186. The work will include the following: (Approx. quantities) Remove identified asbestos containing items from five buildings, demolish buildings, remove debris, and fill basements with compacted soil. Buildings consist of: (3) one-story, concrete masonry and brick buildings, (1) two-story plus basement, concrete masonry and brick building, and (1) five-story plus basement, reinforced concrete building with brick walls. Remove and dispose of one abandoned wellhouse and one underground storage tank. The estimated construction cost of this project is between $750,000 and $1,000,000. Contractor's Quality Control will be a requirement in this contract. The Contractor will be required to commence work within 10 days after notice to proceed and complete the work calendar days after receipt of Notice to Proceed. Provisions will be included for liquidated damages in case of failure to complete 210 the work in the time allowed. Performance and payment bonds will be required. Bid sets will be available on/a June 25, 1996. Half-size plans and specifications will be furnished upon request. All requests for solicitation packages should be made in writing no later than 14 days prior to bid opening. After such time, packages will be furnished if supply is available. It has been determined that the number of sets be limited to 1 (one) per firm (additional copies will be the responsibility of the requestor).
