The Air Force Communications Agency (AFCA) is requesting information on the following communication technologies: 1) Direct Broadcast Satellite (DBS) technology, 2) Digital Video Broadcasting (DVB) technology, 3) Global Broadcast Service (GBS) technology, and 4) Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM) over a broadcast satellite. The Air Force intends to use the requested information to identify possible solutions to broadcast data at rates higher than 20 Mbps. The Air Force is evaluating the cost, security, deployability, and ease of integration of a broadcast system. Information is requested by August 15, 1996. This Request for Information is not a commercial solicitation and the Government will pay neither for any information submitted nor for any costs associated with providing this information.
