COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF JULY 12,1996 PSA#1635US POSTAL SERVICE 475 L'Enfant Plaza, SW Room 4541 Washington DC
20260-6237 U -- SELECTION AND APTITUDE TESTING POC Alfred S. Keve, Contracting
Officer, (202) 268-2245. The U.S. Postal Service is interested in
identifying commercially available selection test resources for
specific occupations, including those listed below with the
corresponding code from the ''Dictionary of Occupational Titles'': 1)
Automobile-Body Repairer (807.381-010), 2) Elevator Operator
(921.683-038), 3) Garage Servicer, Industrial (915.687-014), 4)
Material Handler (929.687-030), 5) Warehouse Worker (922.687-058), 6)
Legal Secretary (201.362-010), 7) Executive Secretary (169.167-014), 8)
Tractor-Trailer-Truck Driver (904.383-010), 9) Truck Driver, Heavy
(905.663-014), and 10) Truck Driver, Light (906.683-022). USPS wishes
to identify suppliers who provide ''stock'' or ''off-the-shelf'',
occupationally-specific selection tests for these occupations. The USPS
is also interested in identifying commercially available aptitude tests
which may be used in whole or part for individual jobs or classes of
jobs (e.g., clerical, automotive). For both of the above classes of
tests, USPS may subsequently seek to purchase items or tests in whole
or part, or to negotiate terms of item use that would permit USPS to
customize items as needed. In order to determine the feasibility of use
of both the occupationally specific and aptitude tests by USPS,
companies responding to this notice should include the following
information: a) how the items or tests were developed, including all
available technical documentation; b) nature of test use agreement and
purchase options available, including opportunities for USPS to
customize any tests or items purchased; c) options for scoring (i.e.,
USPS scoring v. vendor scoring); d) history of identified tests or
items described, including any litigation or challenges; and e) options
for computerized administration. All tests described should have been
developed consistent with ''Uniform Guidelines on Employee Selection
Procedures'', the ''Principles for the Validation and Use of Employee
Selection Procedures'', and the ''Standards for Educational and
Psychological Tests.'' This inquiry is a preliminary one for purposes
of information gathering only and in no way constitutes a Request for
Proposals or commitment to pursue or otherwise consider any instruments
identified in response to this notice. (0192) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0068 19960711\U-0003.SOL)
