The National Institutes (NIH) has a requirement to acquire (1) Irradiator, having the following characteristics: 1. The system shall include a display showing irradiation status information. 2. The system shall include a one-touch membrane keypad for ease of operation. 3. The system shall include an independent back-up timer displaying the actual time the sample was exposed to the source. This timer shall not be part of the main control system. 4. The system shall include software providing timer setting protection using a password, repeat mode, preset irradiation time, and 6-month timer setting change prompt to compensate for Cs-137 decay. 5. The system shall provide low dose rates of 0.3 mrem/h at 1 meter from the source and 5 mrem/h at 5 cm. from any surface of the unit. 6. The system shall provide dose uniformity within 7% over a 260 mm diameter and 100 mm height. The NIH intends to negotiate with Nordion International, Inc., International, Inc., Kanata, Canada K2K1X8 under the authority of FAR 6.302-1 for this requirement. This is a not a formal solicitation. However, firms responding to this notice must furnish concise responses directed specifically to the requirements mentioned above. Sources demonstrating the capability to accomplish the above shall supply pertinent information in sufficient detail to demonstrate their ability to perform a proper evaluation.
