re-announcement of the MARC-ITS acquisition which appeared in the May
21, 1996 CBD. MARC-ITS will provide the contract resources for
Information Technology services needed to satisfy the Department of
Veterans Affairs (VA), Austin Automation Center (AAC) customer
requirements for a period not to exceed five years. The scope of
MARC-ITS has been modified. The functional areas of service to now be
included in the acquisition are: Application Design, Development and
Maintenance, Independent Validation and Verification, Year 2000
Projects; Systems/Facilities Management and Maintenance Support;
Information System Security Support Services (includes Disaster
Recovery and Planning); Electronic Commerce/Electronic Data Interchange
Support; Communications Systems Support (excludes telephone systems);
Technical and Special Analyses, Strategic Planning, Program Assessments
and Studies. MARC-ITS is a 30% small business set aside. Although
MARC-ITS is not specifically set-aside for 8(a) participation, minority
and other qualified 8(a) firms are encouraged to present offers. AAC
also encourages the participation of both large and small businesses as
MARC-ITS task orders will vary in scope and complexity. Offerors may
propose on one functional area, all functional areas, or a combination
of areas. MARC-ITS contracts will be requirements contracts, with the
total value of task orders not to exceed $50,000,000. VA anticipates
a minimum of three awards in each functional area (contractors may
receive awards in more than one area). A vendor conference will be held
at the Holiday Inn, 3401 S. IH-35, Austin, TX on August 14, 1996.
Further information on the vendor conference will be in the
solicitation documents. Solicitation documents will be available on the
Internet at http:/www.aac.va.gov on or about July 26, 1996. No hard
copy of the solicitation documents will be available. Vendors should
not submit written requests for the RFP, as such requests shall not be
