A -- AVAILABILITY OF NAVY SEISMIC CRITERIA FOR PIERS AND WHARVES FOR PUBLIC COMMENT SOL N47408-96-R-6355 DUE 083096 POC John Ferrito, NFESC Code 62, TEL 805-982-1243, FAX 805-982-3481 The Navy is required to provide for life safety and fleet operability of shore facilities at the waterfront against the potential damaging effects of earthquakes. A proposed seismic criteria has been developed for the engineering design of peirs and wharves. The criteria establishes performance requirements, earthquake loading specification and structural response constraints in terms of allowable ductilities. The criteria discusses the geotechnical aspects of piles which are a major lateral force resisting component of piers and wharves. A copy of the proposed criteria and commentary is available for review and comment. Persons desiring a copy of the proposed criteria are requested to send a written request to the technical point of contact given at the end of this notice. Copies of the proposed criteria are limited in number and will not be reqprinted when current supplies are exhausted. This is not a request for proposal and no contract will be awarded related to this task. No reimbursement will be made for any costs connected with providing review comments or any other information to the Navy.
