DE-AC05-84OR21400 is offering for sale U.S. Government-owned
inventories of inverted conical hoppers. Inverted conical hoppers with
external reinforced frame. The hoppers were used as low specific
activity shipping containers for uranium tetrafluoride (UF4).
Fabricated in 1956 to the latest edition of ASME boiler and pressure
vessel codes. Approximate dimensions of the external reinforced frame
of each hopper are: 6' - 0'' high x 4' - 1/2'' sq. The hoppers were
designed to contain a nominal weight of 10,000 lbs. of powdered UF4.
Specifications: Design pressure: 3.5 psi. Operating temperature: 100
degress F. Corrosion allowance: None. Operating pressure: 3.5 psi.
Joint efficiency: 80%. All material to be ASTM A-7 steel; bolts ASTM
A-307. Gasketing black rubber 50 durometer. Pictures and a drawing are
available upon request. These hoppers were used in the transportation
and storage of UF4. All hoppers have been exposed to depleted uranium
tetrafluoride (0.2% U-235) and have internal surface contamination. To
