COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF AUGUST 9,1996 PSA#1655WATER JET PROPULSORS POC: Dr. Frank Petereson, Head of Propulsor Dept.,
301-227-1418. The Naval Surface Warfare Center, Carderock Division, is
available to work with industry to further the application of Water
Jet technology for marine propulsion. The objectives are to advance the
state of the art and to expand availability of advanced ``off the
shelf'' Water Jet propulsors for government application through
industrial involvement. It is anticipated that these objectives will
also lead to an increased use of Water Jet propulsors in commercial
applications. The Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) currently has the
technology to design and test Water Jet inlets, inducers (cavitating
and noncavitating), impellers (subcavitating, supercavitating, and
ventilated), flow passages, and jet deflectors. NSWC also has the
capability to hydrodynamically integrate the Water Jet with the stern
design of the vessel. Experimental data is available for small and
large vessels over a broad speed range. Inquiries should be forwarded
to: Dr. Frank Peterson, Head of the Propulsor Dept., (301) 227-1418
