44135 A -- STRUCTURAL TAILORING AND OPTIMIZATION USING PROBABILISTIC
APPROACH POC Andrew M. Hubbard, Contracting Officer, (216) 433-2809, MS
500-305 or Internet E-Mail: Andrew.M.Hubbard@lerc.nasa.gov. NASA Lewis
Research Center has received an unsolicited proposal from Modern
Technologies Corporation. This company has offered NASA a novel
approach for structural tailoring and optimization of ceramic matrix
composites (CMC) that will be used as combustor liner material for
future High Speed Civil Transport (HSCT) engines. They will support
NASA's HSCT program by applying probabilistic techniques for analyzing
mechanical response of CMCs to various combustor operating conditions.
In addition, they will integrate probabilistic methods with current CMC
design procedures. The period of performance of the proposed work is
twelve months. It is anticipated that 150 hours of NASA supercomputer
time would be needed for the proposed work. This notice is for
information only. Justification to permit contracting with Modern
Technologies Corporation has been prepared using citation 10 USC
2304(c)(1) as its authority. See Numbered Note(s): 22 (0222) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0005 19960812\A-0005.SOL)
