494-2593. The Volpe Center is in the process of issuing a solicitation
for environmental remediation for asbestos and lead paint abatement.
This solicitation is expected to be issued by October 24, 1996. All
work including transportation and disposal of contaminated material
shall be performed in accordance with all applicable federal, state and
local regulations. Permit/license requirements necessary to perform any
and all work shall be the responsibility of the contractor. The
Government intends to issue this solicitation on a full and open
competitive basis under SIC Code 8744. The geographical location is
considered to be the midwestern states. One contract award will be made
in this region. The contract is to be awarded on an indefinite
delivery-indefinite quantity type contract with potential for
cost-plus-fixed-fee and fixed-price task orders. The contract will have
an ordering period of a base period of years and an option period of 2
years with a ceiling of $5 million. Those offerors interested in

Transportation (DOT), Office of Small Business and Disadvantaged
Business Utilization (OSDBU), has a program to assist minority,
women-owned and disadvantaged business enterprises to acquire
short-term working capital assitance for transportation-related
contracts. Loans are available under the DOT Short Term Lending Program
(STLP) at prime interest rates to provide accounts receivable
financing. The maximum line of credit is $500,000. For further
