70 -- CD-ROM SUBSCRIPTION SERVICE CONTAINING THE TEXT OF ACTIVE MILITARY PRODUCTS, SPECIFICATIONS AND STANDARDS, INDUSTRY PRODUCT SOL DAAE30 DUE 092396 POC Kathleen A. The Armament Research, Development and Engineering Center (ARDEC) requires a CD-ROM subscription service containing the text of active military product specifications and standards; industry product specifications and standards; national, international and society standards; vendor catalogs; federal and regulatory information; national stock and parts information plus complete indexes. Other item requirements include handbooks, bulletins, drawings, commercial and data item descriptions, qualified products lists, Department of Defense Directives, and Department of Energy documents. The majority of CD information must be available for access on an existing campus Novell PC local area network (LAN). Service only available on stand-alone CD or visual search micro fiche (VSMF) will be considered, up to 8% of overall service. The delivered product must include all paper indexes, binders and documentation that would normally be included for each selected product. Media, server and jukebox systems sufficient to deliver CD information across the existing Picatinny Desktop Network (PDN), stand-alone CD or on free-standing VSMF stations is required. The delivered system must integrate, successfully operate on, and be accessible over the PDN controlled by LAN-CD (or equivalent). The existing 16-tower CD system shall be replaced by a state-of-the-art, open architecture jukebox system controlled by a twin-server arrangement sufficient to concurrently deliver access to more than 700 CD's to requesting ARDEC staff and resident contractors.
