The Volpe Center has a requirement to extend the period of performance for contract DTRS57-93-C-00173 with the University of Michigan for approximately eight months. A follow on competitive procurement for similar work is in process for task order type R&D support relating to vehicle crashworthiness and the national accident experience. A separate synopsis will be published for this follow on competitive action. The contractor shall perform analyses that will define existing or projected risks, fatalities, injuries and property damage based on the national accident experience statistics, registrations, vehicle miles traveled, vehicle characteristics and trends, speeds and other relevant factors. Tasks yielding correlations between vehicle design attributes and safety performance; distributions of injury serverities as a function of occupant position, age, restraint use, and crash type; and, examinations of data sets from miscellaneous sources for their applicability would be typical during the duration of the contract. Contractor must have the capabilities and experience in statistics, highway vehicle crashworthiness and higway accident data bases.For Minority, Women-Owned and Disadvantaged Business Enterprises: The Department of Transportation (DOT), Office of Small Business and Disadvantaged Business Utilization (OSDBU), has a program to assist minority, women-owned and disadvantaged business enterprises to acquire short-term working capital assistance for transportation-related contracts. Loans are available under the DOT Short Term Lending Program (STLP) at prime interest rates to provide accounts receivable financing. The maximum line of credit is $500,000.
