A -- TECHNOLOGY FOR PROVIDES SECURE AND SELECTIVE TRANSFER OF DATA ACROSS THE INTERNET Contact James Lovejoy, DAMA Industry Project Manager, Textile/Clothing Technology Corporation, 211 Gregson Drive, Cary, NC 27511-7909, TEL: (919) 380-2184, FAX: (919) 380-2181. Textile/Clothing Technology Corporation (TC)2 is seeking an industrial partner to participate in the maturation and commercialization of a new technology for providing secure and selective transfer of date across the Internet. The technology (code named ``TEXNET'') was developed cooperatively by Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, Idaho National Engineering Laboratory, and Sandia National Laboratories as part of the Demand Activated Manufacturing Architecture (DAMA) project. DAMA is the largest project under the American Textile Partnership (AMTEX), a research and development consortium among the U.S. Department of Energy's (DOE) national laboratories, universities and the textile industry (fiber/textile/apparel/retail). The DAMA project is managed through a Cooperative Research and Development Agreement (CRADA) between DOE and and Research, Education, and Technology Transfer (RETT) organization, that represents the industry partners. For the DAMA project, the RETT is (TC)2. One goal of DAMA is to link the 26,000 companies that comprise the U.S. Integrated Textile Complex (ITC) - from the cotton field to the retail rack - with the National Information Infrastructure (NII). TEXNET technology enables supply chain partners to securely share agreed-upon data without exposing their information to non-partners or unwelcome intruders. Data is protected by two layers of security. Proven Internet security technologies will ensure only approved partners with a specific ``key'' can access the server. TEXNET authenticates who is actually sending and receiving information - guaranteeing the sender is the designated participant in a trading partner agreement. Industrial partners are being sought to participate in the DAMA partnership to commercialize this technology for the textile/clothing industry. Commercializing partners will also be sought for other fields of application of the security technology. The successful partner will possess the ability to continue the necessary engineering and development for evolving the prototype into a product or line of products. Prospective partners must demonstrate a strong background in client/server software development and/or sales; or in communication and networking software and/or sales; or a strong marketing position which would allow one to commercialize and distribute the technology. This is not a solicitation for proposals. Any company that is interested in pursuing this opportunity or that wishes to receive more information concerning this program should respond with a brief statement describing the company's technical and marketing expertise, company size and its accessibility to financial and other resources if needed, previous technology transfer experience, and motivation for participation in this partnership opportunity. The statement of interest must be dated within 30 days from the date of this notice. (299)
