(BPC), under Contract #TDA-5756-C-00-6239 with the U.S. Trade and Development Agency (TDA), will be procuring heavy construction equipment on behalf of the Government of the Republic of Macedonia. Under terms of the grant from the U.S. Government with the Government of the Republic of Macedonia (GRM), equipment procured is to be used in road-building under the South Balkan Development Initiative Project. Each piece of equipment procured must be of U.S. source and origin (i.e. at least 51% of total cost of manufacture -- componentry plus labor -- must have been manufactured/performed in the U.S.). Demonstrated prior and current parts support and operations/maintenance training capability in the South Balkan region will be required. Equipment to be procured is expected to include one or two pieces each of medium to large size loaders, bulldozers, graders, and excavators. BPC anticipates release of the solicitation document on or about 10 January 1997, with bids due not later than 31 January 1997. The ultimate destination of the equipment to be procured is the Republic of Macedonia; desired delivery date is April -- May 1997.
