United States Agency for International Development (USAID) in Jamaica
plans to award a contract for technical assistance to be provided to
the Jamaica Exporters Association under the Small Business Export
Development Project. This will be a twelve (12) month contract. The
objective of this contract is to provide technical assistance, export
information, and training services to Jamaican small businesses, and to
strengthen the export development capacity of the Jamaica Exporters'
Association (JEA). The services required by AID/Jamaica under this
contract shall include: (1) assisting small businesses in industry,
agriculture and services with the potential to generate or expand
exports, identifying the specific technical assistance needs of these
firms, and providing the needed TA services; (2) developing and
implementing an export training program (conferences, workshops and
seminars) for small businesses, including the needs of the producer
groups in the agricultural sector; (3) constant upgrading and updating
of the export services to small businesses. Interested parties shall
submit their request for the RFP via Fax 809-929-9944 or by mail to the
address above. The deadline for submitting the proposals will be 30
calendar days after the effective date of the RFP. Please note however,
that in the interests or saving time, photocopying and mailing costs,
the preferred method of distribution of USAID procurement information
is via the Internet of by request of a solicitation on 3.5" floppy disk
(WordPerfect 5.2 format). This CBD notice can be downloaded from the

Procurement and Business Opportunities from the Gopher menu. From
there, choose the heading USAID Procurement and then Download Available
USAID Solicitations. The RFP can also be downloaded via Anonymous File
Protocol (FTP). The FTP address is "anonymous" and the password is
your e-mail address. Look under the following directory for the RFP:

be confirmed by written notification to the contact person noted above.
It is the responsibility of the recipient of this solicitation document
to ensure that it has been received from Internet in its entirety and
USAID bears no responsibility for data errors resulting from
transmission or conversion processes. USAID encourages the
participation to the maximum extent possible of U.S. entities that are
small business concerns, small disadvantaged business concerns,
including women-owned concerns, historically Black colleges and
universities, whose student body is at least 40 percent Hispanic
American, and private voluntary organizations controlled by socially
and economically disadvantaged individuals including women in
accordance with Part 19 of the FAR and Part 726 of the AIDAR. It is
anticipated that the prime contractor will make maximum practicable use
