ANNOUNCEMENT STTR is a three-year, three-phase pilot program for
converting technology from research insitutions (universities,
non-profit organizations, federally funded research and development
centers, etc.) into the private marketplace through the
enterpreneurship of a small business. The NASA STTR 1997-1 Technology
Research topics, relevant NASA Strategic Enterprise, and managing field
center(s) are as follows: 1. Research Topic: Earth Remote Sensing,
Strategic Enterprise: Mission to Planet Earth, NASA Center: Goddard
Space Flight Center; 2. Research Topic: Advanced Technologies for Space
Science, Strategic Enterprise: Space Science, NASA Center: Goddard
Space Flight Center; 3) Research Topic: Human Exploration & Development
of Space, Strategic Enterprise: Human Exploration & Development of
Space, NASA Center: Johnson Space Center; 4. Research Topic: General
Aviation, Strategic Enterprise: Aeronautics. NASA Centers: Langley
Research Center, Lewis Research Center, and Ames Research Center. 5.
Research Topic: Advanced Space Transportation, Strategic Enterprise:
Aeronautics, NASA Center: Marshall Space Flight Center; 6. Research
Topic: Non-Destructive Evaluation of Material Properties and Structural
Integrity, Strategic Enterprise: Crosscutting Technologies, NASA
Center: Langley Research Center, Lewis Research Center, Marshall Space
Flight Center. The 1997 NASA STTR Pilot Program Solicitation will be
made available "electronically" by means of the World Wide Web (WWW),
Internet FTP and the NASA SBIR/STTR bulletin board system (BBS). Paper
copies of the solicitation will not be distributed. Instructions for
electronic access to the solicitation are as described below: Via the
Internet (WWW): The STTR solicitation, and other program information,
is accessible on the NASA SBIR/STTR home page which can be reached at:
http://nctn.hq.nasa.gov/SBIR/SBIR.html. Via the NASA SBIR/STTR
Bulletin Board System (BBS): Access to the BBS is available by dialing
301-918-8177. BBS specifications are: Baud: 2400-9600, Parity: none,
Data Bits: 8; Stop Bits: 1. Diskettes: Those requesting the
solicitation are strongly urged to download it from one of the
electronic services listed above. However, if that is not possible, a
disketted containing the solicitation may be requested by U.S. Mail
from the NASA SBIR Support Office, Allied Technology Group, 4200 Forbes
Blvd., Suite 106, Lanham, MD 20706, or via Fax at (301) 918-8154. The
request must include the name and full address of the requester, and
