COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF FEBRUARY 13,1997 PSA#1782Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, Procurement Department, L-650,
P. O. Box 5012, Livermore, CA 94551 39 -- ROBOTIC MANIPULATOR AND ASSOCIATED HYDRAULIC LIFT/ELEVATOR FOR
USE AT THE NATIONAL IGNITION FACILITY (NIF). DUE 041597 POC Don Potter,
Subcontract Administrator Specialist, 510-422-8673 E-MAIL: Lawrence
Livermore National Laboratory, April.Masluk@quickmail.llnl.gov. The
University of California, Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, seeks
sources for the design, fabrication, and installation of a robotic
manipulator and associated hydraulic lift/elevator for use at the
National Ignition Facility (NIF). This system is for service and
maintenance of a 10 meter diameter target chamber which is supported on
a pedestal approximately 17.3 meters at center above floor level. The
system will consist of a lift to position the robot or other loads into
the chamber and the chamber robot manipulator. The lift must provide a
payload of 15 US tons and insert the robot system through a 1.8 meter
diameter cylindrical plenum below the spherical chamber. When not in
use, the lift is required to store in a pit below the basement floor
directly below the chamber. The robot is stored in an adjacent building
and moved onto the lift through a 6 foot wide by 10 foot high door when
needed. The robot must provide chamber tile maintenance operations,
cleaning operations, video inspection and a man-lift capability. Robot
operations will be performed remotely from a control room in an
adjacent building to reduce exposure to operators. These operations may
include remote autonomous and simple teleoperated tasks. Fabrication,
installation, and final acceptance will be coordinated with the NIF
facility construction schedule. Interested firms must have past
experience in systems (or subsystems) of this nature and should respond
with a description of qualifications with respect to the foregoing or
related fields. Interested firms should respond with a description of
qualifications with respect to the foregoing or related fields. The
small business size standard applicable to the proposed acquisition is
500 employees. Firms qualifying as a small business with respect to
this standard should so state. Responses are required on or before
April 15, 1997. Firms responding to this announcement which fail to
provide the required information will not be considered for inclusion
into any resulting source list. Facsimile responses to 510-422-9294
will be accepted. This notice is to assist the University in
determining the potential for competition; no solicitation is currently
available. (0041) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0250 19970213\39-0003.SOL)
