http://www.wasc.noaa.gov. The Government has a requirement for a bottom
trawl vessel to conduct a series of two studies in the Bering Sea. The
charter, including two projects, will consist of 34 days. Project #1
-- Trawl Bycatch Research (16 days) and Project #2 -- Impacts of Trawls
on Soft Sea Floor Habitats (18 days). The vessel shall have a minimum
overall length of 30.5 m (100 ft.); minimum main engine continuous
horsepower of 800; capable of a cruising speed of no more or less than
5.6 km/hr (3 kts), be completely rigged with a commercial scale trawl
rigging, two net reels, and split trawl winches. The vessel shall have
sufficient living quarters to accommodate up to 11 persons (a crew of
5 and a maximum of 6 scientists). The accommodations must include a
private two-bunk stateroom for female scientists. The Government will
provide trawls, all scientific sampling equipment and supplies, sorting
table, trawl doors for use with Government trawl, etc. The charter will
commence on/about July 13, 1997 in Dutch Harbor, Alaska, and end
approximately on August 15, 1997, in Dutch Harbor including both
