The work consists of underwater site inspection, removal of sediment up to 25 cubic yards, the removal of seventeen (17) Submarine Moment System magnetometers, installation of seventeen (17) Government furnished magnetometers and associated assemblies into existing magnetometer tubes, installation of associated cables inside flexible non-magnetic conduit, routing these cables/conduit to existing pier, removal of existing cables from pier conduits, installation of new cables through existing conduits, and incidental related work. The work is located at the Magnetic Silencing Facility, Naval Submarine Base, Kings Bay, Georgia. Qualified contractors shall be familiar with all rules and regulations for performing work in a navigable channel and have appropriate equipment for doing said work. The construction duration is 21 calendar days and will be scheduled in the July/August 1997 time frame. Contractors within the local area are encouraged to pick up a copy of the solicitation at Bldg 218 (third floor) of the WNY between the hours of 0730 and 1500, Monday-Friday. There will be no charge for these documents, however, there will only be one set issued per contractor. The solicitation will be available approximately fifteen days after this notice appears in the Commerce Business Daily. The bid due date shall be thirty days after the solicitation is made available to the public.
