60 -- ELECTRONIC FIBER OPTICAL MULTILEXER RELATED I/F CONVERTERS AND PLENUM CUSTOM CABLES IN SUPPORT OF JSS-C PROGRAM POC Capt Kent M. Phillips, Contract Manager, 617-377-7245; Themoula T. Poirier, Contracting Officer, 617-377-9457. Electronic Systems Center (ESC) intends to solicit on a non-competitive basis, to Black Box Corporation, Pittsburgh, PA. The purchase order will be for Fiber Optic multiplexers, SYNC/ASYNC, RS232/RS422 Converter (rack and rackmount cards), 3 ABC-DB25 switches, rackmount chassis, vented shelf for 19" W X 27" D X 77"H (non-locking), and 150 associated plenum custom cables. These parts will be used to install NORAD AAMDS connections at North Bay, Canada, similar to those used at other operational North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) facilities. It is considered that Black Box is currently the only qualified source with the technical breadth of products and in depth technical on-line support required for the acquisition, integration, installation and Sustainment of the NORAD AAMDS communication upgrade. Statutory authority for award of this contract is 10 USC 2304 (c)(1) as implementated by Federal Acquisition Regulation 6.302-1, "Only one Responsible Source".
