NASA/GSFC plans to issue a Request for Proposal (RFP) for the design, fabrication, test, and delivery of multiple Radiation Hard (RH) reconfigurable Field Programmable Gate Array's (FPGA's). NASA/GSFC intends to purchase the items from Honeywell, Inc. Honeywell is uniquely qualified for this effort. It has an established U.S. Qualified Material Line (QML) fabrication facility. Honeywell has 0.8 micron Silicon On-Insulator (SOI) technology with a demonstrated growth path to 0.5 micron technology. It has an established licencing agreement with a reconfigurable FPGA manufacturer for FPGA technology which is adaptable and has needed commercial supplier interest. In addition the licenced FPGA technology is based on an HR 0.8 micron process. See Numbered Note 26. The RFP will be released on or about 15 days after publication of this synopsis in the CBD.
