COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF APRIL 22,1997 PSA#1829Cdr, U.S. Army Chemical and Biological Defense Command, Procurement,
Attn: AMSCB-PCB, Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD 21010-5423 A -- MARKET SURVEY FOR CHEMICAL/BIOLOGICAL AIR PURIFYING,
FULL-FACEPIECE RESPIRATOR DUE 063097 POC Mr. Corey Grove, Research &
Technology Directorate, US Army Edgewood RD&E Center, Attn: SCBRD-RTL,
APG (EA), MD 21010-5423, (410) 671-6651 This is a market survey not a
solicitation or invitation for bid. The U.S. Army Chemical and
Biological Defense Command (CBDCOM) is conducting a market survey to
identify novel respirator products or concepts which can be used for
protection against chemical/biological (CB) warfare agents.
Manufacturers or dealers of commercial or military respirators are
sought. CBDCOM is searching for INFORMATION ONLY from companies that
have a product or prototype concept that offers potential for meeting
the requirements for a next generation mask for joint service general
purpose CB applications. The respirator must be capable of providing
full-threat eye and respiratory protection against current and future
chemcial/biological agents. The respirator must minimize the overall
physiological burden and mission degradation of the service men. Other
fundamental requirements include the ability to integrate with
personal protective gear such as helmet systems and CB clothing and
compatibility with weapon sighting systems. Key design goals include a
50% reduction in breathing resistance, size/weight profile, and cost
compared to conventional CB protective mask systems such as the M40A1
and MCU-2/P. Enhanced vision, communication, and optical correction
capabilites are also key design goals. Interested manufacturers that
have products that they believe can meet or exceed the above mentioned
performance requirements and design goals should submit information
and capabilities in the area. Information should include product
brochures, descriptive literature, available test data, and relevant
company background and experience. THIS NOTICE IS FOR MARKET RESEARCH
ONLY. NO DOCUMENTS ARE AVAILABLE FROM THIS OFFICE. The information
received under this announcement will be used to identify commercially
available respirators for consideration as candidate respirator
systems for the future generation of joint service CB protective masks.
Responses to this notice are to be sent no later than 30 June 1997 to
Mr. Corey Grove at the above address. (0108) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0012 19970422\A-0012.SOL)
