Administration (SSA) knows of only one source, the Vital Statistics
Office of each of the fifty States and the jurisdictions of Puerto
Rico, District of Columbia and New York City, which can provide
certified vital statistics birth records information for all births
occurring in each State or jurisdiction. This data is required for the
purpose of assigning Social Security numbers to newborns in support of
SSA's Enumeration At Birth program. The period of performance for the
base year is expected to be on or about January 1, 1998 through
December 31, 1998, with four one-year option periods, if exercised. Any
interested organization must submit two (2) copies of appropriate
written data explaining their access to certified vital statistics
information to Christine Nagengast, Contract Specialist, Social
Security Administration, Office of Acquisition and Grants, 1710 Gwynn
Oak Avenue, Baltimore, Maryland 21207 within 15 days of the date of
this publication. The information respondents provide shall pertain to
the synopsis only; cross-referencing of material previously submitted
is not recommended. No cost or pricing data is requested. This is not
a request for proposal and the Government does not intend to pay for
information solicited or received. Respondents will not be notified of
the results of the evaluation of the source data received. The
