Nancy A. Robb, nrobb@ems.jsc.nasa.gov. NASA/JSC plans to issue a
Request for Proposal (RFP) for fabrication of 3 shipsets of T-38A/N
aircraft engine inlet nacelle formers. Delivery date is September 19,
1997. The nacelle formers will be machined from 7050-T7451 aluminum
plate. Rough former dimensions will be about .875 in. x 20 in. x 25 in.
Nominal former web thickness is expected to be .050 inch. Fourteen
formers (seven left side, seven right side) will constitute one shipset
of hardware. Included are two options, Option 1 for 29 additional
shipsets (delivery of shipset number 1, September 1, 1998; shipset
number 2, October 1, 1998; shipsets 3 through 29, 5 per month starting
November 1, 1998); and option 2 for up to a maximum of 5 spare
shipsets (delivery no later than May 28, 1999). Early delivery of
shipsets is acceptable. Delivery shall be FOB Destination, Lyndon B.
Johnson Space Center, Houston, Texas. Interested sources may contact
Nancy Robb (see point of contact). This procurement is being conducted
under the NASA MidRange Pilot Test Program approved by the Office of
Federal Procurement Policy. The Government intends to acquire a
commercial item using FAR Part 12. All responsible sources may submit
an offer which shall be considered by the agency. The anticipated
release date of the RFP is on or about May 30, 1997 with an anticipated
offer due date thirty days later. An ombudsman has been appointed --

hard copy received shall be the same as the solicitation, inclusive of
