SOLE SOURCE -- The U.S. Marine Corps intends to negotiate a sole source increase in contract scope with Watkins-Johnson, of Savage, Maryland, for five hundred (500) additional hours of maintenance and support of the Manpack Tactical Intelligence System (MANTIS) subsystems in twelve (12) fielded AN/MLQ-36 Mobile Electronic Warfare Support Systems (MEWSS). Watkins-Johnson is currently performing this work under contract No. M67854-96-C-3027, is the sole developer and manufacturer of the MANTIS, and solely possesses the proprietary data and drawings necessary for the performance of the effort described herein. No other source is believed to be capable of meeting the Marine Corps' requirement. No solicitation document exists.
