Officer The National Weather Service (NWS) of the National Oceanic &
Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has a requirement for the procurement
of up to 1,400 minimum/maximum temperature system (MMTS) electronic
unit subassemblies (EUS) to include manufacturing to Government
supplied design specifications & testing of the units. The MMTS EUS
will be a part of the MMTS, & shall collect, process, & display ambient
temperature data, store the minimum/maximum temperature until reset, &
display the minimum/maximum temperature upon query. The MMTS EUS shall
operate on commercial power 117 volts AC, +10%-15% at 60 Hertz (+- 5
Hertz). The MMTS EUS shall be encased in a plastic enclosure & shall
incorporate a LED display that is readable from greater than three (3)
feet. The unit shall display in degree Fahrenheit. All artwork, parts
lists, & schematics necessary to reproduce all printed circuit boards
will be provided by the NWS. The MMTS & its various functions are
controlled by software contained in Read Only Memory (ROM) that are
part of the 8048 microcircuit installed in the electronic unit. The
microcircuit with the masked ROM control program will be provided by
the NWS to the contractor for all preproduction & production units.
Government acceptance of the MMTS electronic unit subassembly shall be
contingent upon the unit successfully passing all tests associated
with the Contractor's & the Government's Quality Assurance (Q/A)
programs. The Q/A provisions follow a logical sequence providing
thorough testing of preproduction units prior to production release
followed by limited testing of production units to demonstrate
compliant operation in the absence of infant-mortality. All responsible
sources interested in this procurement can request a copy of this
solicitation by sending a fax on company letterhead to the attention of
Eleanor E. Kaul 301/713-0806. See Notes #1 & #26. (0164) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0284 19970617\59-0009.SOL)
